My granddaughter and I had a fun time sewing together some of these strips, before I took over and finished it up. Here is the quilt on my longarm quilting machine. (Notice, there is no rickrack on it at this point.)
Do you see the backing fabric rolled on the bar at the top of the picture? It was a great big rainbow colored chevron print that I just had to use.

E really liked it! I gave it to her for her 8th birthday, and I would like for this to be the start of a great tradition. I have 9 grandchildren, and it would be wonderful if I could give each one of them a twin sized quilt when they turn eight.
By the way, I quilted the whole quilt with no regard for the seamlines. Then I went back and added the rickrack using the long arm, before I took the quilt off of it. That worked out really well.
