Attention: Precision-Impaired Quilters!
Can't match points? Hate to measure?
You can make gorgeous quilts anyway!
Lectures & Workshops by
Amy Stewart Winsor
Amy is a quilt artist who doesn't measure, doesn't make templates, avoids matching corners,
rarely plans ahead, and usually fudges the rules. She will teach you her free-form methods, and
inspire you to find the fun in quilting.
She enthusiastically encourages her students to find the techniques they enjoy most, and to spend
their quilting time frolicking in the fabric instead of stressing out.
She taught at the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas, November 2004, and has taught at quilt guilds from the east to west coasts.
Her work has been published in I Remember Mama, Great American Quilts 2003, AQS Quilt Art Engagement Calendar 2003, and
America From the Heart--Quilters Remember September 11, 2001, and has been exhibited internationally.
Amy's quilt, "My Stars and Yoyos", was purchased by Karey Bresenhan for the corporate collection of the International Quilt Festival, Quilts, Inc.
Her quilt, "The Opera Quilt", was commissioned by Capitol Broadcasting Company, and hangs in the BTI Center for the Performing Arts, Raleigh, NC.
Her quilt, “Make An Appointment” won viewers choice at World Quilt and Textile in 2002.
"The Flame Of Hope", Amy's quilt commemorating the victims of Sept. 11, 2001, has been shown internationally in the America: From the Heart Exhibit, and is included in the book of the same name.
She and Mickey Depre had a two-person special exhibit "On the Bright Side: Art Quilts of Mickey Depre and Amy Stewart Winsor" shown at Pennsylvania National Quilt Extravaganza Sept. 16-19, 2004 and at Pacific International Quilt Festival in Santa Clara, CA, Oct. 14-17, 2004.
"Amy was an inspiration to everyone...and her slide presentation was 'THE BEST EVER' that we've had at our
meetings."
--The program director of the Venice Florida Area Quilt Guild, March 2002.
